The Warrior

20 years USAF. Green Ramp Crew Chief. Chito-Ryu lineage. 312 nights under a Green Beret. The warrior who builds.

GREEN RAMP · MARCH 23, 1994

Pope AFB. F-16D collides with C-130E at 300 feet. Wreckage arcs toward the ramp. Strikes the parked C-141B Starlifter. Fuel tanks puncture. Fireball sweeps through ~500 paratroopers from the 82nd.

24 dead. 100+ injured. Largest peacetime loss for the 82nd Airborne since WWII.

That C-141B was mine. 66-0173. Destroyed. I wasn't on the ramp that day. Survivor's burden.

USAF · MOCC · THE RAMP

I watched the EC-135 crash into the woods at Pope with my own eyes. I ran MOCC stateside and overseas — Minot AFB (B-52 nuclear wing), Ramstein AB during Afghanistan. C-130s, C-5s, C-17s, C-141s. Thirteen years on the ramp. Technical Sergeant (E-6). Crew chief with 7-level qualifications. Senior Controller — total domain awareness of the flightline.

When systems fail, you don't theorize. You've seen the alternative.

CHITO-RYU · 312 NIGHTS

Lineage: Chitose (founder) → Hank Slomanski (The Hammer, taught Po) → Sensei Warren 'Po' Pochinski (Green Beret, rank from Chitose) → me · William Domeitrich Hanshi (separate branch, US Chito-ryu Federation)

312 nights under Po. Two nights a week. Every single week. Entire family trained. Fort Bragg Special Forces dojo. Highest green belt — testing for brown before Minot move. Audra State Park annual camping events. The Life-Saving Fist.
